Macromedia Studio MX 2004

In an effort to further confuse everyone about their product names, Macromedia has announced its forthcoming Macromedia Studio MX 2004. The package includes Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks, all sporting the continuation, 2004, of the already nonsensical “MX” moniker. But wait, there’s more! You could get the better version of Flash, Flash MX Professional 2004 for just a few more bucks. As you can see by the comparison page, the differences don’t really seem to necessitate a separate, professional version. Are you trying to protect your novice customers from big scary features, or just trying to turn an extra buck, Macromedia?

Add to all of this Macromedia’s new policy of product activation, which means, you may actually need to buy the programs this time around. But we’ve all been doing that already, right? So, the question must rise, who would like to buy Studio MX 2004 for me? C’mon, it’s only a paltry $900.

*sigh*

In related news, Macromedia has revamped their site’s design.
