A Brush with Stardom

The CBS show Hack” (which is a show about some crime-solving taxi driver, to my understanding) was filming on my block earlier this week. Trucks, trailers and other assorted important-looking-stuff lined the curb.

While walking home from the train Tuesday, I took it upon myself to go investigate. I walked out to the street corner where a few important-looking people were congregating. A woman with a clipboard was directing workers who were setting up some sort of lighting apparatus. I noticed a catered food table off to the side and decided to help myself. I grabbed some cookies from their wide selection and filled up a small cup with milk. I went back to the corner to see if anything interesting was going to happen when I noticed I was standing next to the guy. You know, the Hack guy. Well, maybe you don’t know. The only reason I knew is because I have seen a few promos on TV before. So I went up to him and said, “Hey, you’re the guy”. He smiled and replied, “Yeah, I’m the guy”. We shook hands, and he introduced himself as David (which is good, since the reason I had to call him “the guy” was because I had no idea what his name was).

And that’s it. I know you were hoping for more. I finished my milk and cookies and headed back to my apartment. On the way, I ran into the guy who plays the tough police officer on the show (he was coming out of the make-up trailer) and met him as well.

Oh man, you should have asked that jerk how he could steal Björk’s money like that! She was saving it for an operation to keep her kid from going blind, for Christ’s sake! The “Hack” people were blowing shit up across from my work a few weeks ago; I would have marched over there and given that guy a piece of my mind if I wasn’t so concerned about getting hit by dumpster shrapnel.

HA, HA!! Hack is soooooo bad. It’s gotta rank somewhere below Starsky and Hutch reruns, and maybe just above JAG or some other terrible CBS cop/military drama.

The Hack crew filmed here at the building I work at, near 8th and Spring Garden. They turned the building into a hospital for the show. But the thing that was funny is that there is an *actual* doc’s office on the first floor, and I’m sure that the old people in wheelchairs were all confused what was goin’ on!

Tough call: would you ask about acting with Bjork, or directing Robey on ‘Friday the 13th: The TV Series’?

In my business I meet stars and athletes everyday. A good percentage of them are jerks, to find one that will give you the time of day is a nice thing.

What’s your business, Colin?

Well, currently I own my own business which is a hosting, programming company (www.azileinc.com) - but I was hired 9 months ago for some contractive DB design and implementation and sorta ended up staying at www.tracercode.com (where I am currently CTO), for 40 hours a week. Heh, go figure. But we do athlete and entertainer signings for autographed memorabilia - and also we authenticate older stuff from people like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, etc. Pretty cool stuff. The technology we use is what keeps me interested, so I am stickin around.
