Shutterbug

If one were to look in the Photography section of this site, one would find two new collections of pictorial goodness. The first is a general assortment of signage, forgotten letterforms and typographic bits found in and around Philadelphia, it is called Found Typography. The second collection is from Labor Day, the day when workers lay down their pickaxes and shovels to eat various grilled delicacies, and comprises the celebratory cookout and subsequent badminton matches held through the night, it is called Labor Day & Night.

Update

After a kind shove from a reader and my own inability to keep coming up with excuses, I made a quick modification to the swf that powers my Photography section. That’s right, dear reader, you are now entrusted with the ability to move forwards and backwards. Rollover the photos to explore. Use it wisely.

Inspiring work, especially on the “Found Typography” section. I’m always looking for examples of design in real life as opposed to the make-believe world we all live in. Thanks for finding a bridge between the two.

Found Typography is brilliantly inspirational; something completely out of the norm and lending itself to great ideas.

Well done, and thank you.

Nice shots Jason, I really like them. I love the designer’s view of the world (so I can see that I’m not the only person with similar illness ;) …)

Excellent.

Beautiful photography, Jason. My town isn’t as eccentric as Philly but I did find some beautiful typography in downtown Bountiful Utah!

My favorite: Bountiful Lumber

Nice shots, only one complaint: the photo galleries are a bit of a pain to navigate. There’s no simple way to just go through the photos and enjoy them. You have to locate a bar, click it, view the image, look for the next bar, and repeat. It really takes away from the experience.

I agree with you Dave. I am working on a quick fix that will make you feel warm all over.

Oooh . . . nice functionality. But now I know your secret . . .

i like the navigation, the bars get darker after you have already viewed the pic. but who am i to say?

I agree with that first guy. If I have to spend my evenings trying to click on tiny rectangles then the terrorrists have already won!

Enjoying the photographs, which camera do you use?

13. Jason Santa Maria says… sep 18, 2004 | 3:55 pm

Thanks Sian, some of the photos were taken with my old camera, a Nikon Coolpix 995, the others were taken with my shiny new Nikon D70.
