It’s much smaller now, but immediately after I got hit it swelled up so that it looked like I had an egg under my skin.

These last two photos brought back some painful paintball memories.
So - you had a “minimal” face mask on? Just some plastic safety glasses? I seem to remember getting a full helmet thing to wear…
Well, yes, I did have a full face mask on. In the midst of sprinting for cover, the mask slid down about an inch for a split second. During that time I got wacked. But good.
