Haha, Merritt actually checked! I was a little worried when I picked up Zeldman’s book that I was going to mistake some punctuation and post the wrong sentence. I can just imagine an hour later someone calling me on misquoting the Good Orange Book.
That’s actually one of my favorite passages from White Noise.
I was gonna follow the herd and do this on my blog, but I think it’s more fun as a conversational thing, and my eternally temporary site doesn’t have a comment system set up yet. So here’s mine, which is pretty funny:
