Generosity is the Flower of Justice

I have just received some new mail from my old friend Converges Q. Liverpool. I must admit, sometimes I really don’t mind sp@m like this, great sender name and just a random assortment of funny quotes. It reads more like a manual for life if you ask me:

Well!

Bye

He had decided to live forever or die in the attempt.

Never mind your happiness do your duty.

Hatred is gained as much by good works as by evil.

From what we get, we can make a living what we give, however, makes a life.

I’m saving that rocker for the day when I feel as old as I really am.

He who sleeps in continual noise is wakened by silence.

Sharing is sometimes more demanding than giving.

Frankly, I don’t want to see a rapid upturn.

I want it to hold until some of these idiotic competitors go bust.

A cynic can chill and dishearten with a single word.

Freedom suppressed and again regained bites with keener fangs than freedom never endangered.

No one ever suddenly became depraved.

By learning you will teach, by teaching you will learn.

An old man loved is winter with flowers.

Generosity is the flower of justice.

You accuse a woman of wavering affections, but don’t blame her she is just looking for a consistent man.

The unity of freedom has never relied on uniformity of opinion.

Patriotism, when it wants to make itself felt in the domain of learning, is a dirty fellow who should be thrown out of doors.

Every man over forty is responsible for his face.

The best ones I got in a message are these:

In any free society, the conflict between social conformity and individual liberty is permanent, unresolvable, and necessary. -Kathleen Norris
About the necessity of compromise
It’s kind of fun to do the impossible. Walt Disney

Don’t you hate running carelessly?
Minds are like parachutes. They only function when they are open. -Sir James Dewar, Scientist (1877-1925)

Those police officers are practicing driving between the two buildings. Do those plumbers always remember jumping?
From that day on there were new rules in my classroom. Each student was to have an adult ‘communication partner’ at the computer. This adult was to sit with the child, not saying a word until the student stopped and looked at the adult or in some other way indicated that communication was desired. Then the adult was only to encourage the student by saying the word, nodding the headand smiling. The student was allowed to continue his or her learning. When the student imitated a word, the adult was to respond appropriately. NO QUESTIONS WERE ALLOWED during this beginning phase. The students were just learning to talk. She has disliked cooking for a day or two.

Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living; the world owes you nothing; it was here first.
Lots of times you have to pretend to join a parade in which you’re not really interested in order to get where you’re going. -Christopher Darlington Morley (1890-1957)
Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. H. Jackson Brown
Life is the art of drawing sufficient conclusions from insufficient premises. Samuel Butler (1612-1680)

Geez. All I got was something from my webhost telling me that my domain was about to expire.
And I don’t even have that domain.

Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.

I think a lot of these folks had slaves.

I just now got a good one from an old pal - Liberalization J. Gloominess. Here are some of his reflections:

Uuf widerlu-ega (whatever that means)

Personally, I’m always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught. Don’t flatter the rich, or appear to willing before the great.

We are only falsehood, duplicity, contradiction we both conceal and disguise ourselves from ourselves.

I may have faults, but being wrong ain’t one of them.

Snow and adolescence are the only problems that disappear if you ignore them long enough.

You don’t have to fool all the people all of the time you just have to fool enough to get elected.

Happiness is the light on the water. The water is cold and dark and deep.

I got this beauty the other day. I have been noticing a lot more interesting sp@m of late.

Modern art touches a sore spot, or several sore spots, in the ordinary citizen of which he is totally unaware. The more irritated he becomes at modern art the more he betrays the fact that he himself, and his civilization, are implicated in what the artist shows him.

but what’s it all for? does the sp@m sell anything or do anything?

I get these messages all the time. In fact, I wrote about it not too long ago because I had the same question: What does the sp@mmer gain by sending nonsense, non-advertising messages? After a few responses, I found what I was looking for. Sinister indeed.

Matt gets them all the time, but for some reason I have never recieved one. actually, i don’t really get much sp@m in general. don’t worry. I’m not complaining.

This is interesting. I like the ‘consistent man’ thing. Also, the ‘every man over 40 is responsible for his face’ reminds me of ‘when you turn 50 you get the face you deserve’ which I just read in some book. I’d like to add that I am totally not responsible for my face.

I am not responsible for anything… hehe… I love being a teenager.

I know this is off the subject, but it’s pretty funny, how many people are angry with Virtual Stan. Odd how an inside joke can become a national thing, and people end up hating it without knowing why it was funny in the first place. STAN—does it hurt you to know people hate the you that isn’t really you? wait! does this mean they hate ROb? sweet!

I had a guy visit my site that I refer to as the Sp@m Poet… perhaps, Sp@m Poet Laureate?

Strangely alluring, some of those sp@m headers. I’ve been thinking for a while now that they’d make great slogans for t-shirts, maybe you could use them in designs for threadless. I especially like “Every man over forty is responsible for his face.” lol

Mike –

Uuf widerluega (whatever that means)

This is Swiss German and means “goodbye” or “see you”. Funny that our small dialect made it into a spam mail :-)
