There’s an Italian “Club” in Overbrook that has sand bocce courts. You of course have to be a member. My uncle was for awhile - you get your own real key to the front gate. We ate dinner there a few times but never played - those folks are “pros”.
There’s an informal family reunion of mine starting-up in Maine this weekend and I can’t make it. They’ll be eating lobster, telling stories, and playing bocce on Ogunquit beach with out me.
Your picture brought all those great memories back in an instant. thanks
I learned how to play bocce at the beach, and when I tried to play it the “right” way I totally sucked. Playing in the sand (Georgia sand, anyway) requires a lot more force but not as much finesse. Good for a grunt such as myself.
Okay, this is awesome. Where do they play bocce in the sand?? I wanna join.

Wasn’t Booce in the Sand a hit for Dolly parton and Kenny Rogers?
This is from a recent family reunion. We are cutthroat when it comes to bocce :D
Aw man! You’re killing me here Stan!
