Moving On and Moving Out

Today is my last day at Power Design. I have taken a new position as a Multimedia Designer at TMX Interactive (ironically located about two blocks from my last dwelling in Conshohocken). For those not in the know, TMX is another design agency (doing exclusively interactive work). Luckily I already know some of the people there, since I went to school with half of the design department (including Kevin and April). I am excited for a change of scenery, new people and such although; I must admit, now that the end of my employ is nearly upon me, I can’t help but feel a little sentimental. I made some good friends and had quite a few hearty guffaws at Power. But deep down I realize its time (cue the theme from Perfect Strangers). Farewell, wish me luck.

Keeping in theme with The Vulnerable Side of Jason, it seems I now own a cat. Actually, she is not a cat but a kitten, only just eight weeks old. After much deliberation, I have named her Adeline. She seems to enjoy the fact that she can fit in only one of your hands, and often passes the day crippling passersby with her cuteness. Her eyes and ears are adult-sized, making her seem like a caricature done by an artist attempting to portray sorrow. I never really thought of owning a cat, being that I am so fond of dogs, but she is a fantastic, and dare I say it, a welcome addition to our new apartment.

Round One in the second installment of The Big Move happens tomorrow (Part 1 took place in June). Your backbone shudders.

You need to own lighter stuff and live on floors closer to the ground.

Ok, picking up the slack is one thing…picking up the slack for an emo geek is something completely different!

You know, Pete’s animosity towards emo (and use of it as a blanket term for pretty much anything he hates) bears a striking resemblance to the hair metal crowd’s animosity toward to grunge, beginning around 1992. Even very recently, I saw Lita Ford whining on some VH1 special, “I’m pissed off! I want my fucking rock ‘n’ roll back!” It made me think of Pete.

I don’t know whether to be sad or glad that I don’t have cable anymore, because it means it’s no longer possible for Pete to pick up the remote, flip directly to MTV, and start turning purple with rage as he yells at the screen.

God bless you, Pete.
