Shaun of the Dead
Shaun is not having a good day. It’s bad enough his girlfriend dumped him due to the lack of adventure hanging out at The Winchester Pub every night entails, but now his town is overrun with zombies. Odd how in Shaun’s day-to-day life as a go-nowhere electronics store clerk he is very much a zombie himself, but the sudden outbreak awakens Shaun’s latent hero leading him on a quest to save his girlfriend, her ho-hum roommates, and his mom from impending zombie-ism. Shaun sets out, with his loyal lay-about best friend Ed, stealing his zombie flatmate’s car to gather up everyone and head to somewhere safe… where else, but The Winchester, and an all-out fight to the death.
Shaun of the Dead is a horror comedy done right, with a good head on its shoulders (and sometimes off), dry cool wit and snappy dialogue that will leave you giggling. Its a genre spoof that not only gives respectful nods to zombie greats like Romero, but succeeds as “A romantic comedy, with zombies.” This comes out soon in the states, even though its been out on DVD for a bit already overseas, make sure you check it out. Fans of The Office will also appreciate Lucy Davis (Dawn from The Office) as Dianne, and Martin Freeman (Tim from The Office) with a cameo.
Worth noting, is that if you like the british comedy show ‘Spaced’, you’ll love Shaun, and vice versa… In many ways, Shaun is almost Spaced, but with zombies :)
That’ll teach me to skim read FeedDemon…
For a minute there, I thought you were talking about Mr. Inman ;)
Malarkey, you too?
Come on Andy, this movie came out over there months ago :D
Good movie. Felt like feature length episode of Spaced.
If you haven’t seen Spaced before you really should check it out, especially if you’re a movie geek.
Hey, I also thought you’re talking about Shaun Inman ;) Happy I wasn’t alone…
